East Palo Alto police officials announced over the weekend that two people were shot to death and two others were seriously wounded on Sunday, October 14, 2018. The shooting took place at approximately 2:44 a.m. in the 2500 block of Pulgas Avenue.

This is the first homicide to occur in public in the City of East Palo Alto since June 10, 2016.

The East Palo Alto Police were alerted to the double homicide by a ShotSpotter activation and 911 calls reporting a shooting at the Pulgas Avenue location. When officers arrived at the location within two minutes, they found four victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Tthe Menlo Park Fire Protection District and American Medical Response Ambulances also responded to the scene and began treating the victims. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Eduardo Alvarado Sandoval, a 22-year-old Stockton resident, was identified as one of the deceased victims. The name of the other deceased victim will be released after identification by the county coroner and the family is notified.

According to the police, a dispute escalated into a physical altercation that was followed by gunfire at a private adult Halloween party at the rear of a business complex at the Pulgas location.

The suspect in the shooting fled the scene and is still being sought.
