Twenty-four year old Adair Jeru Enriquez Zevallos, was arraigned on Tuesday, December 5, for the murder of two-year-old Leia Kiele Panduro.

East Palo Alto police, who arrested Zevallos, said that they responded to an emergency call at 320 O’Keefe in East Palo Alto at 1 p.m. on November 27, to find that Panduro was not breathing and had no pulse. She was rushed to Stanford Hospital and pronounced dead at 2 p.m.

An autopsy showed that Panduro died of blunt force trauma and had been beaten to death.  Police reported that Panduro had been left in the care of Zevallos by her mother, who was the defendant’s girlfriend.

Zevallos did not enter a plea during his arraignment. Judge Mark Forcum, the presiding judge, denied bail and Zevallos will remain in custody on a no bail status.  His case is scheduled for December 13, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the Redwood City Felony Court.
