She has surprised many people with her artistic talents, and she is not considered an average performer. Former U.S. Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleeza Rice, will demonstrate her talents as the featured performer at a concert on May 3, 2014, at Cubberly Theater in Palo Alto.
The concert called, "An Evening of Classical, Jazz and Gospel," is sponsored by the Bay Area Baptist District Association (B.A.B.D.A).
Rice, who served as the U. S. Secretary of State in President George Bush’s administration from 2005-2009, gained acclaim as an accomplished concert pianist.
The BABDA concert will be emceed by internationally known actor and entertainer, Obba Babatunde, who is best-known known for his Emmy-nominated performance in the television movie Miss Evers' Boys.
The Bay Area Baptist District Association (B.A.B.D.A), is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was founded in 1919, thereby making it one of the oldest religious confederations in Northern California.
It is an association of predominantly African American Baptist churches numbering twenty five in all. The constituent churches are to be found in the East Bay, San Francisco and the San Francisco Peninsula. The churches furthest North are in San Francisco. Those furthest South are in San Jose. The association is currently led by Dr. Rickey Williams, the pastor of the Saint John Baptist Church of East Palo Alto, as Moderator.
The association serves to provide fellowship, training, worship, and mutual aid amongst the member churches. One aspect of this mutual aid is the district’s scholarship awards. We have been amazingly successful in providing over 86 scholarships (in our 24 years of the Scholarship Program existence) to very deserving teenagers in the Bay Area. These scholarships in some cases are the very academic lifeline that allows them to be successful in college and the workforce.
The Bay Area District Scholarship develops young people who are uniquely prepared to step up to the challenges of a complex, changing world. It encourages our young people to become responsible, engaged citizens working toward creating important impacts that address issues facing our community both today and into the future. We are a nonprofit 501(c).
The concert will be held, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Cubberly Theater, located at 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, CA. The concert highlights will begin at 7:30 p.m. The tickets sell for $75 for adults and $50 for children under 12.
All proceeds will go to assist in funding worthy 2014 graduating high school seniors as they go on to further their college education. For more information please call 650-325-9022 or 650-856-6180 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
