A 26-year-old Palo Alto resident sustained a life threatening gunshot wound while traveling in East Palo Alto.  According to the East Palo Alto Police, the victim was driving with a friend near University Avenue and Kavanaugh Street about 1 pm. on Sunday, October 20 when someone began shooting at his vehicle. The shooter fled on foot.

The East Palo Alto Police were alerted to the shooting by a Shot Spotter activation that signaled gunshots in the area of University Avenue and Kavanaugh Street.

When police officers arrived at that location, they were told that the victim was found in his car near University Avenue and Crescent Street in Palo Alto.

The shooting victim was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown.

The East Palo Alto Police request that anyone with information about this shooting incident contact Detective Rod Tuason at 650-798-5952 or call East Palo Alto Police Dispatch at 650-321-1112.
