Working on “credible information,” a team of law enforcement officials turned up an arsenal of weapons this week in a storage locker in Redwood City. The arsenal included 7 assault rifles, 10 handguns and over 5000 rounds of ammunition.
Two male adults were arrested in the case and are now being held on parole and probation violations.
The arsenal was discovered around noon this past Wednesday. The East Palo Alto Police Department’s Special Duty Unit (SDU), Menlo Park Police Department’s Narcotic Enforcement Team (NET) and State Parole Agents worked jointly to uncover the evidence that led to the weapons being found in the storage locker.
The joint collaboration, known as “Operation SMART,” is the result of agreements between the Cities of East Palo Alto and Menlo Park to address gang related violence in the two cities.
