The Mid-Peninsula Athletic Association Mastodons recently completed its fall football season as league champions in two of the four divisions in which the team plays. The Pee Wee  (5-7 year olds) team under the leadership of Sherrod Smith and Chris Neal III won the championship game by a score of 12-0 over the San Francisco Warriors.

The winning game was played on Saturday, November 10 at the Solano Junior College in Fairfied, CA. Congrats are in order to all of the team members.

In the Midget division (12-14 year olds) The Midgets dominated the San Francisco Warrior team 34-6. This team was led by coaches Tyler Barker and myself.

As coaches, we think that all the teams did well this season and we are very proud of our young people not only on the field but off of it as well.

This season was the first season that the Mastodons had cheerleading as part of the program and our young ladies competed in a cheerleading competition that garnered them second and third place ribbons their first time out. We are proud of them as well as their coaches, parents and the friends who supported them all season long.

The awards banquet for the Mastodons will be held on November 30 at 6 p.m. during a dinner celebration at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church where the awards for the season will be presented. The church is located at 1050 Bay Road in East Palo Alto.

We encourage all of the community to come out, and show its support and praise for our young people’s efforts and accomplishments this season.
