The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter has opened an evacuation center this evening at the East Palo Alto YMCA located at 550 Bell Street due to flooding.  Residents of the affected area can go to this evacuation shelter for shelter, food, beverages, and other assistance.

The American Red Cross, with East Palo Alto officials, will continue to reassess the flooding conditions as the tides rise and will send out further notifications as needed.  The evacuation center at the East Palo Alto YMCA will remain open until at least midnight this evening.

Residents who need housing, food or other assistance, and have not yet registered with the Red Cross, should go to the evacuation center or call 1-888-4-HELP-BAY to register.

All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by the donations of time and money by local residents and companies. To assist residents affected by fires and other local emergencies, call 1-888-4-HELP-BAY (1-888-443-5722) or visit www.redcrossbayarea.org or contact your local Red Cross chapter.
