Two Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested
April 2, 2009 At approximately 11:57 A.M, an East Palo Alto Police Officer conducting a patrol check at a local business observed a male subject run out of the business with a mask partially covering his face and jump into a vehicle. The officer observed a second subject standing outside as a lookout and followed the masked subject to a vehicle. The subjects then fled in the vehicle. Patrol officers attempted to make a traffic stop as a possible robbery had just occurred. The subjects failed to stop for patrol officers taking them in a pursuit through East Palo Alto. The subjects at times reached speeds of 70 mph down residential streets and school zones. The driver identified as, Richardo Bravo, a 21 year old Menlo Park resident and the masked robbery subject, identified as, Manuel Olivares, a 23 year old also from Menlo Park fled from the vehicle on Saratoga Avenue. Both subjects ran across Willow Road and were subsequently apprehended on the 1100 block of Willow Road. The subjects were unsuccessful in obtaining any money from the business. The weapon was not located and is believed to have been discarded in the pursuit. The subjects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for robbery among other on-view charges. Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery is encouraged to contact Detective Dave Carson at 650-853-3150 or the East Palo Alto Police Anonymous Tip Line at 650-853-8477.
